Dinner and Astronomy
Today was spent with friends and family, starting with a late lunch with RCJ and his fiancée at their trailer. Then the clan gathered as usual (except for Teen Daughter, who had a date!) at the Ancestral Manor for an evening of pizza and dominos.
Southern Father and Eldest Nephew set up a telescope on the old tennis court. That's the back side of the Ancestral Manor in the background; Southern Father built much of it himself.
Southern Father was just given a half-finished 12" Newtonian that needs to be completed. The mirror blank has been ground but not silvered.
Stella is a Good Dog!
Youngest Nephew demonstrates his prowess with scooter and sword.
Second Cousin dropped by to discuss her plans for upcoming family birthday parties with Southern Mother.
Let the games begin! Tonight it was Southern Father and Southern Mother battling for dominance as they left the rest of us far behind.
After dominos we went back out for a little planet-gazing. The telescope easily showed the phase of Venus and the rings of Saturn.

You need more people in your clan. You mentioned that you are Irish. Is that why you refer to your family as clan? Is that a cultural thing?
So what happened to the tennis court? You said it was the old tennis court...is there a new one? Do you play tennis too?
'Way back when they built the house my parents decided they'd rather have a tennis court than a pool. We played a lot of tennis while I was growing up. After we kids moved out and after the third time the neighbor's cows got out and ruined the surface Dad decided to just let it go. Now there's an above-ground pool on one end.
