Saturday In The Park

Southern Man and a few friends drove an hour northwest to one of the state parks for a day of fun.

The park entrance. There was a geocache hidden in those trees to the right.

Girls cannot park.

At the lodge. Photo by a friendly passer-by.

Mini golf.

The winner!

Lunch.

Another geocache was hidden near this mural.

A good time was had by all.

Does your teen daughter like geo'ing? Was she with you too? How many finds are tucked under your belt? On average how many discoveries do you make a year?

Teen Daughter used to love it; now she more or less puts up with it. Age 14 is a LOT different than age 12.

SouthernMan you are an educator so help me! My friend just informed me that the local school will NOT be teaching cursive writing to our 3rd graders anymore. Instead, keyboarding will be the focus. This is just wrong. How can this be fixed?

The education wars were lost when parents decided that they were "too busy" to teach their children and outsourced this necessary task to the government. You can try to teach her yourself if you can pull her away from the endless stream of entertainment available to her - another war lost, when we let TV and its 21st-century replacements take over as baby sitter.
